THE KING OF INSTRUMENTS: MUSIC FOR CHOIR AND ORGAN
WITH GUEST ORGANIST RICK SEATON
Since its invention, the pipe organ has been paired with voices in combinations that continue to intrigue composers to this day. Compositions for choir and organ are some of the most important pieces in the entire choral repertory. From C.H.H. Parry’s famous Jerusalem to the Fauré Requeim, choral/organ masterworks abound and will be celebrated on this concert.
Rick Seaton holds a Master of Music degree in organ performance from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Denver. He studied piano at the University of Denver with Theodor Lichtmann and Alice Rybak; he has also studied piano abroad with John Damgaard of the Royal Danish Conservatory. While at Indiana University he studied organ and church music with Marilyn Keiser. Mr. Seaton has been active as a church musician in the Denver area for more than thirty years. He is the Music Director and Organist at Bethany Lutheran Church.
