Voices West Presents Check to East Elementary

Categories: Press Release

“East Meets West” was the theme of an exciting musical collaboration between Voices West and about 25 fifth grade members of the Honor Choir of East Elementary School in Littleton, CO, on January 31, 2015. The concert, which was a “pay what you’re able” event, was held at and co-sponsored by Littleton United Methodist Church. All proceeds were to directly benefit the East Elementary music program, under the direction and leadership of Ms. Amy Gonzalez.

On Friday, March 20, several members of the Voices West board of directors, including board President Bill Leeper, attended the school’s monthly assembly to present Ms. Gonzalez and her choir with a check in the amount of $1,312.41. The amount represents a nearly $75 increase over the previous year and well over double what this annual concert raised in its 2013 premier.

A relationship between East Elementary and Voices West, then the Littleton Chorale, was forged 10 years ago to give back to the community that so generously supports the adult community choir. Current conductor and artistic director, Dr. Michael Todd Krueger, has actively continued the relationship with the highly rewarding “East Meets West” annual fundraising concerts.
