Littleton Chorale has changed its name to Voices West in a reflection of its broader reach in the greater Denver Metro area. Below is an open letter to the patrons and supporters of the Chorale, without whom this growth would never have been possible.

Dear Friend of the Littleton Chorale … and Voices West,

As our 2013-2014 concert season approaches, I want to extend my sincere thanks for your ongoing support of our incredible organization — and to update you on some of the exciting events that have happened recently and those that are to happen in the future.

You may recall from last year’s letter that I referred to a long-range planning and “visioning” process that we’ve undertaken to ensure a strong future for our organization.  The most obvious development out of the planning process is a new name: Voices West.  We will always cherish our Littleton roots and our geographic base will remain in Littleton, but the organization’s membership has grown to include singers from all along the Front Range – as far south as Castle Rock and as far north as Thornton.  We needed a name that would broaden our regional profile; allow us to perform in new regional venues; and “market” our organization to an increasing number of patrons and sponsors.  We believe we’ve hit a home run with our new name and logo, and though it will take some time for all of us to get used to, the new name and fresh graphic image remind us of the great progress we’ve made and of a very bright future.

The planning process produced another important change that has helped us produce concerts of increasingly higher standards and audience appeal – auditions for each of our members.  All singers in Voices West must audition to gain entry into the ensemble and then re-audition every three years.  This has had an incredibly positive impact on singer dedication, retention and recruiting.  The members of Voices West want their experience to be of the highest quality and our audiences benefit greatly from that desire.

Our 2013-2014 concert season promises to be our best ever.  In October we will present Royals Reign with the Colorado Chamber Orchestra- a concert of music for royalty including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s uplifting Coronation Mass and the Colorado premiere of Karl Jenkins’ poweful Te Deum.  In December, our Carols By Candlelight concerts are hugely popular and this year will be no different as we perform the beautiful Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten in celebration of the composer’s centenary anniversary.

Our conductor, Michael Todd Krueger, will be celebrating five years with Voices West and ten years with The Larimer Chorale of Fort Collins.  In honor of his dual anniversaries we will be joining forces with The Larimer Chorale in a Bernstein Spectacular that will feature the Chichester Psalms, music from MASS, and selections from West Side Story and Candide.  With over 200 musicians on stage, this concert will be produced in Littleton and in Fort Collins and promises to be an incredibly memorable and moving experience.

During the 2013-2014 season we will continue to support the fine arts programs at Littleton’s East Elementary School with a joint concert featuring East Elementary students and members of Voices West in performances of fun songs and hummable tunes for audiences of all ages.  All proceeds and donations from our East Elementary Benefit Concert will go to music and arts education programming at East.

We’re feeling great momentum in our organization. If you believe, as we do, that the work of Voices West makes a difference in our community and region, we invite you to be a part of that difference by making a donation of any size to our organization. The quality and variety of our concerts continues to grow and impress, and it is all possible because of you.

We ask kindheartedly for your support as we continue our work to share the gift of music and connection across our community. If it has been a while since you made a contribution to our organization or if you can add to a recent contribution it would be truly appreciated.  Thank You.
